Striped Sweetlips - Plectorhinchus albovittatus
The Striped Sweetlips is a visually striking and sizable fish, known for its predominantly white body adorned with bold black stripes and yellow accents on its fins and face. As they mature, these fish tend to darken, losing much of their vibrant juvenile hues.
Reaching up to 40 inches in length, adult Striped Sweetlips require a minimum tank size of 200 gallons. They are semi-aggressive and generally coexist peacefully with other large fish species. However, they may prey on smaller fish and invertebrates, making them unsuitable for reef aquariums.
In larger tanks with other peaceful to semi-aggressive fish, the Striped Sweetlips can serve as a captivating centerpiece. If housed with more aggressive species, ample hiding spots, such as live rock, are recommended.
As carnivores, Striped Sweetlips thrive on a diet rich in meaty foods. Juveniles benefit from mysis and brine shrimp, along with high-quality frozen foods. As they grow, they require more substantial meals, such as fresh seafood chunks, to maintain their health.
