The Spotted Sweetlips - Plectorhinchus chaetodonoides is a large, tranquil fish known for its striking transformation from juvenile to adult. Young Spotted Sweetlips display a predominantly brown body with large white spots, while adults exhibit a white body adorned with numerous smaller black dots.
Reaching up to 30 inches in length, Spotted Sweetlips require a minimum tank size of 200 gallons. They are generally peaceful and do not disturb other fish or coral, but they may consume invertebrates. Caution is advised when adding them to a reef tank.
These fish are strong swimmers and need ample open space in the tank. They can be shy and benefit from plenty of live rock for hiding. Spotted Sweetlips are carnivorous, thriving on a diet rich in meaty foods like clams, shrimp, scallops, fish, and crab. Live feeder shrimp can help initiate feeding in aquariums.
