Oriental Sweetlips - Plectorhinchus orientalis
The Oriental Sweetlips is a visually striking fish, both as a juvenile and as a mature adult. Young Oriental Sweetlips display a brown hue with white patches, while adults boast a white body adorned with horizontal black stripes and yellow fins with black spots. These fish grow rapidly, reaching over two feet in length, and require a minimum 400-gallon aquarium. They are not reef-safe, as they may prey on smaller fish and invertebrates essential for a thriving reef environment. Best suited for large, fish-only tanks with other semi-aggressive species, Oriental Sweetlips are carnivorous, thriving on a diet of clams, scallops, shrimp, and marine fish chunks. If they don't eat initially, live feeder shrimp can encourage feeding.
