Foxface Rabbitfish, scientifically known as Siganus vulpinus, are a vibrant addition to both reef and fish-only aquariums. These fish boast a striking yellow body with a distinctive black mask on their white head. When under stress, they can change their coloration. Growing up to 9 inches, they require a minimum tank size of 75 gallons. Generally peaceful, they coexist well with other tank mates, except when other Rabbitfish are present, which can lead to territorial disputes. Their venomous spines deter other fish, and caution is advised when handling them to avoid stings.
These fish are considered reef-safe, typically leaving corals and invertebrates undisturbed. However, if their diet is inadequate, they may nibble on LPS and soft corals. As herbivores, they thrive on a diet rich in greens, including Nori, Red Algae, Spirulina, high-quality flake foods, and mysis shrimp. Additionally, Foxface Rabbitfish are excellent at controlling nuisance algae, making them a valuable addition to any aquarium.
