Saddle Valentini Puffer - Canthigaster valentini
The Saddle Valentini Puffer is a charming and compact pufferfish. It features a predominantly white body adorned with bold black vertical stripes and spots, complemented by a yellow tail.
Saddle Valentini Puffers can grow up to 4 inches in length and require a minimum tank size of 29 gallons. These fish are semi-aggressive and generally coexist well with other fish, except for the smallest and most peaceful species. They may consume some invertebrates, so caution is advised when adding them to a reef tank. Their beak-like teeth are used to feed on invertebrates.
Saddle Valentini Puffers have the ability to inflate their bodies to more than twice their normal size when stressed, deterring predators with their increased size. It's important not to use a net when handling them, as they may inflate. Instead, use acrylic or plastic containers. Forcing them to inflate for entertainment is highly stressful and should be avoided.
As carnivores, Saddle Valentini Puffers thrive on a diet rich in meaty foods. Offer them mysis and brine shrimp, small pieces of fresh seafood, and high-quality meaty frozen foods to ensure their health and happiness. Foods with tough shells help maintain their teeth.
