Narrow-Lined Puffer - Arothron manilensis
The Narrow-Lined Puffer is a fascinating and clever species of pufferfish. These puffers display a predominantly light tan body adorned with darker brown circular markings. They can grow up to 12 inches in length and require a minimum tank size of 125 gallons. Known for their semi-aggressive nature, they are not suitable for tanks with smaller fish or invertebrates, as they tend to consume all inverts, making them unsuitable for reef aquariums.
The Narrow-Lined Puffer can inflate its body to more than twice its original size to deter predators. It's crucial to avoid using nets for transport, as this can cause them to inflate. Additionally, inflating them for entertainment is highly stressful for the fish. These puffers are intelligent and exhibit engaging personalities, akin to a family pet.
As carnivores, Narrow-Lined Puffers thrive on a diet rich in both meaty and plant-based foods. Offering fresh seafood like clams, squid, fish, shrimp, and scallops will ensure their health and happiness.
