Blue Spot Puffer Fiji - Canthigaster solandri
The Blue Spot Puffer is a compact pufferfish suitable for reef aquariums. It features a tan body adorned with striking blue patterns and white spots. These puffers grow to a maximum of 5 inches and require a minimum tank size of 55 gallons. Known for their peaceful nature, they coexist well with other fish in the tank. They thrive in peaceful to semi-aggressive FOWLR setups. While they can be introduced to reef tanks, they may occasionally target smaller invertebrates, depending on their individual temperament.
When startled, Blue Spot Puffers inflate, which is stressful for them, so avoid provoking this behavior. Using a net can also cause stress; it's better to use a container for transferring them. As omnivores, they need a diet rich in both meaty and plant-based foods. Including hard-shelled invertebrates in their diet helps maintain their teeth. They also enjoy high-quality seafood like clams, squid, and shrimp.
