The Chinstrap Jawfish, a recent addition to the jawfish family, features a tan body adorned with white patches. Its distinctive black vertical stripe from eye to mouth gives it its name.
Reaching up to 3 inches, the Chinstrap Jawfish thrives in tanks of at least 29 gallons. Known for their peaceful nature, they are suitable for reef tanks but may show aggression towards other jawfish if space is limited.
These fish are excellent jumpers and can leap out of tanks if startled. Ensure your aquarium has a secure lid to prevent escapes. They also need ample rubble to create their homes.
As carnivores, Chinstrap Jawfish require a diet rich in meaty foods like mysis and brine shrimp, along with live feeder shrimp and quality seafood to flourish.
