The Pyramid Butterflyfish is a stunning and vibrant species. It features a predominantly white body, complemented by yellow fins and a distinctive black facial mask. Its unique coloration is reminiscent of pyramids, which is how it got its name.
Reaching up to 7 inches in length, the Pyramid Butterflyfish requires a minimum tank size of 75 gallons. Known for their peaceful nature, these fish generally coexist well with other fish, corals, and invertebrates, making them an excellent choice for reef aquariums. However, they may occasionally nibble on soft corals, so this should be considered when adding them to your tank. They are also compatible with other butterflyfish, including their own kind.
These fish are quite shy and thrive in environments with plenty of established live rock, providing them with hiding spots when they feel threatened. They also graze on small invertebrates and algae found on the rocks.
As omnivores, Pyramid Butterflyfish need a balanced diet of both meaty and plant-based foods. Feeding them a variety of foods such as mysis and brine shrimp, nori or marine algae sheets, high-quality frozen foods, and premium flake and pellet foods will ensure their health and happiness.
