The Princess Anthias is a breathtakingly vibrant fish, showcasing a predominantly light pink body accented with orange hues and shimmering golden specks. These fish grow to a maximum size of about 4 inches and require a minimum tank size of 55 gallons. Known for their peaceful nature, Princess Anthias coexist harmoniously with most fish, corals, and invertebrates, making them an excellent addition to reef aquariums. It's best to keep them in groups of all females or one male with several females, as male Princess Anthias can be aggressive towards each other.
Due to their natural habitat in deep waters, Princess Anthias may initially struggle to adapt to aquarium life. They thrive in cooler water tanks with ample hiding spots and protection from intense lighting. Without these conditions, they may experience stress and illness. As carnivores, their diet should include meaty foods such as mysis and brine shrimp, high-quality flakes and pellets, and premium frozen foods. A refugium or live rock can provide additional nutrition through pods. Given their active nature, feeding them small meals throughout the day is ideal, as a single large meal is insufficient for their health.
