Bimaculatus Anthias - Pseudanthias bimaculatus
The **Bimaculatus Anthias**, also referred to as the Twospot or Twinspot Anthias, is a stunning marine fish. Males are distinguished by one or two spots on their dorsal fin and a pink head that transitions into a vibrant red tail. Their bodies are adorned with irregular pink horizontal bars, making them one of the most beautiful Anthias species. Females are primarily pink with yellow dorsal, anal, and caudal fins. These Anthias are a striking addition to fish-only, invertebrate, or reef aquariums.
For optimal care, the **Bimaculatus Anthias** should be housed with its own kind in a tank of at least 75 gallons. This marine species prefers the middle of the tank but benefits from having multiple hiding spots.
All Anthias species, including the **Bimaculatus Anthias**, are hermaphroditic. If the dominant male dies, the largest female often transforms to assume the role.
Once settled in a new aquarium, Anthias thrive on a varied diet, including frozen mysis shrimp, enriched frozen brine shrimp, and eventually high-quality flake foods. Feeding should be done in small amounts throughout the day. A refugium with copepods and amphipods offers a continuous supply of nutritious live food, keeping this active planktivore satisfied.
