Pygmy Yellowtail Angelfish - Centropyge flavicauda
The Pygmy Yellowtail Angelfish is a diminutive, dark blue angelfish predominantly found in the Indo-Pacific region. Its body showcases a deep blue hue complemented by a vibrant yellow tail and occasionally a light red head.
As one of the tiniest angelfish species, the Pygmy Yellowtail Angelfish can thrive in aquariums as small as 40 gallons. Despite its size, it is advised not to house it with other dwarf angelfish due to its potential aggression towards similar species. However, keeping multiple females with a single male is generally successful. While the Pygmy Yellowtail Angelfish is mostly reef-safe, there are instances of it nipping at corals and certain invertebrates like clams.
Being an omnivore, the Pygmy Yellowtail Angelfish requires a diet rich in algae, mysis shrimp, and Spirulina. It's beneficial to have a substantial amount of established rock in the tank, providing ample hiding spots and algae for grazing.
