The Interruptus Angelfish stands out as one of the most stunning dwarf angelfish in the aquarium world, making it a must-have for enthusiasts. Its appeal largely stems from its compact size of 6 inches and its striking blue and orange hues. Due to its modest size, the Interruptus Angelfish can thrive in aquariums as small as 75 gallons.
Adult and juvenile Interruptus Angelfish display different color patterns, with blue dominating the face and the vibrant orange becoming less prominent. Identifying the sex of these fish is quite challenging.
Despite their small size, caution is advised when introducing multiple centropyge species into the same aquarium. Larger tanks can accommodate multiple dwarf angelfish. The Interruptus Angelfish is a brilliant addition to any setup, whether fish-only or reef. While they belong to the Centropyge genus, known for nipping at corals and clams, the Interruptus Angelfish is among the least likely to do so. They might be tempted by meaty LPS polyps like acans, but SPS, Euphyllia, and certain soft corals are generally safe. Each dwarf angel has a unique personality, so some may nip at corals more than others.
The diet of an Interruptus Angelfish should include mysis shrimp, algae, and spirulina. A good amount of live rock is beneficial, providing hiding spots and algae for grazing. As a deepwater species, the Interruptus Angelfish may be startled by bright reef lights, so multiple caves are recommended for hiding, especially during acclimation.
