Flagfin Angelfish - Apolemichthys trimaculatus
The Flagfin Angelfish is renowned for its breathtaking appearance, featuring a vibrant yellow and gold body accented with blue lips and a distinctive black spot. This angelfish is a true visual delight.
Reaching up to 10 inches, the Flagfin Angelfish is considered medium-sized. It requires a minimum of a 75-gallon aquarium. Due to its timid nature, it's best to house it as the sole angelfish in the tank. The Flagfin Angelfish can exhibit aggression towards other angelfish, necessitating a significantly larger tank if you plan to keep multiple angelfish together.
Only experienced aquarists should care for the Flagfin Angelfish. Its primary diet consists of sponges, so providing a steady supply of sponges and sponge-based foods is essential.
Supplementary foods for the Flagfin Angelfish include mysis shrimp, algae, and brine shrimp. A tank with plenty of rocks will offer additional algae and sponges for grazing, as well as hiding spots for when the fish feels threatened.
