Blue Velvet Angelfish - Centropyge deborae
The Blue Velvet Angelfish is a captivating and recently identified species of dwarf angelfish. These fish exhibit a deep blue hue that appears almost black in dim lighting but transforms into a vibrant blue under intense reef lights.
Reaching an adult size of about 3 inches, the Blue Velvet Angelfish requires a minimum tank size of 55 gallons. Known for their peaceful nature, they generally coexist well with other fish and invertebrates. However, they may occasionally nip at both soft and hard corals, as well as clams, so caution is advised when adding them to a reef tank.
These active fish are usually visible throughout the day. It's recommended to keep only one species in smaller tanks to avoid aggression, but larger tanks can accommodate multiple Blue Velvet Angelfish or other dwarf angels without significant issues.
As omnivores, Blue Velvet Angelfish thrive on a diet rich in both meaty and plant-based foods. Offer them mysis and brine shrimp, high-quality frozen foods, nori and algae sheets, spirulina, and premium flake and pellet foods to ensure their health and vitality.
