The Half and Half Wrasse is a seldom-seen and challenging wrasse to maintain. Initially, these fish are black and white, with the front half white and the back half black. As they grow, they transform into predominantly green fish with orange facial markings.
Half and Half Wrasses can grow up to 30 inches and require a minimum tank size of 240 gallons. They are semi-aggressive and may disturb smaller fish and other wrasse species. They also consume invertebrates found in the tank. In their natural habitat, they feed on coral, making them unsuitable for reef aquariums.
These wrasses are difficult to keep in captivity because they often reject prepared foods. In the wild, they eat coral and small invertebrates from rocks and sand. They are carnivorous and can be trained to eat prepared foods like mysis and brine shrimp, as well as small pieces of fresh seafood.
Half and Half Wrasses should only be kept by experienced aquarists or those familiar with this species. If you have any questions about the Half and Half Wrasse, please feel free to contact us anytime.
