The Blue Star Leopard Wrasse is a visually striking and vibrant fish species. Males and females of the Blue Star Leopard Wrasse exhibit different color patterns. Males are typically greenish-blue with purple accents, while females are predominantly red with a blue underside.
These wrasses can grow up to 5 inches and require a minimum tank size of 55 gallons. Known for their peaceful nature, Blue Star Leopard Wrasses coexist well with other fish, corals, and invertebrates, making them an excellent choice for reef aquariums.
Due to their gentle temperament, they should not be housed with larger, aggressive fish unless they are among the first to be introduced to the tank. The Blue Star Leopard Wrasse is challenging to maintain in captivity, as they often struggle to adapt. Only experienced aquarists or those familiar with this species should attempt to care for them. A well-established tank with abundant small live foods and plenty of live rock for hiding will aid in their adjustment. A sand bed is essential for them to burrow and sleep.
As carnivores, Blue Star Leopard Wrasses thrive on a diet rich in meaty foods, such as mysis and brine shrimp, high-quality frozen foods, and premium flake and pellet foods.
