Bicolor Cleaner Wrasse - Labroides bicolor
The Bicolor Cleaner Wrasse is a vibrant and beneficial fish species. These wrasses feature a predominantly black body accented with bold yellow stripes.
Reaching up to 5 inches in length, Bicolor Cleaner Wrasses require a minimum tank size of 55 gallons. They are peaceful and generally coexist well with other fish, corals, and invertebrates, making them ideal for reef aquariums. However, some fish may find their cleaning behavior bothersome. Known for their jumping ability, these wrasses should be housed in tanks with secure lids to prevent escape.
In their natural habitat, Bicolor Cleaner Wrasses establish cleaning stations where other fish come to have parasites and dead skin removed. While they may exhibit this behavior in captivity, it is not guaranteed. They also forage on live rock for small invertebrates. Due to their dietary needs and adjustment challenges, only experienced aquarists should attempt to keep them. Their small mouths limit them to smaller food items.
As carnivores, Bicolor Cleaner Wrasses thrive on a diet rich in meaty foods. Offer them mysis and brine shrimp, along with high-quality frozen foods, to maintain their health and activity. Nori sheets can also be a beneficial addition to their diet.
