Bursa Triggerfish - Rhinecanthus verrucosus
The Bursa Triggerfish is a captivating species with a predominantly white body, accented by a dark brown patch and a striking eye mask featuring yellow and blue hues.
Reaching up to 10 inches in length, the Bursa Triggerfish requires a minimum tank size of 125 gallons. Known for their aggressive nature, they are not suitable for tanks with smaller, less aggressive fish. They also tend to consume invertebrates and may rearrange rocks in the aquarium as they grow, making them unsuitable for reef tanks.
In a spacious fish-only aquarium, the Bursa Triggerfish can bring vibrant movement and color. They thrive in environments with ample live rock for hiding when threatened.
As carnivores, Bursa Triggerfish need a diet rich in meaty foods. Juveniles can be fed mysis and brine shrimp, along with high-quality meaty frozen foods. Adults require more substantial meals, such as fresh seafood chunks like clams, squid, shrimp, scallops, and fish. Foods with hard shells help maintain their teeth.
