White Tail Yellow Eye Tang - Ctenochaetus flavicauda
The White Tail Yellow Eye Tang is a rare and stunning surgeonfish, featuring a vibrant red body and a striking white tail. Its face is adorned with white spots and a distinctive yellow eye.
These tangs grow up to 5 inches and thrive in aquariums of at least 75 gallons. They are active swimmers, preferring longer tanks with ample swimming space. Unlike many tangs, the White Tail Yellow Eye Tang adapts well to smaller tanks.
Generally peaceful, these tangs coexist well with other fish, corals, and invertebrates, making them ideal for reef tanks. However, they may show aggression towards other tangs, especially within the Ctenochaetus family. To minimize conflicts, introduce them simultaneously and ensure a plentiful supply of algae for grazing.
As excellent rock cleaners, White Tail Yellow Eye Tangs help control nuisance algae. Being herbivores, they require a diet rich in greens, including nori, marine algae sheets, high-quality flakes, pellets, mysis, and brine shrimp.
