Mustard Guttatus Tang - Acanthurus guttatus
The Mustard Guttatus Tang is a remarkable and rare surgeonfish. It features a predominantly tan to black body adorned with bold vertical white stripes and spots. These tangs can grow up to 12 inches and require a minimum tank size of 240 gallons. They are generally peaceful with other fish, corals, and invertebrates, making them an excellent choice for large reef aquariums.
However, the Mustard Guttatus Tang can be aggressive towards other tangs, especially those from the Acanthurus genus. To minimize aggression, introduce all tangs simultaneously and ensure they have ample space. Providing plenty of algae on live rock or algae sheets can also help reduce aggression. These tangs are strong swimmers and need a tank with plenty of open swimming space.
As herbivores, Mustard Guttatus Tangs thrive on a diet rich in greens. Offer them foods like Nori, marine algae sheets, spirulina, high-quality flakes, pellets, mysis, and brine shrimp to keep them healthy and vibrant.
