Mimic Eibli Tang - Acanthurus tristis
The Mimic Eibli Tang is a captivating and unique surgeonfish, known for its resemblance to the Centropyge eibli angelfish. This species features a predominantly tan body, a yellow belly, and distinct dark vertical stripes. Its tail is a striking deep blue. Mimic Eibli Tangs can grow up to 10 inches and require a minimum tank size of 50 gallons. They are semi-aggressive but generally peaceful with other fish, corals, and invertebrates, making them ideal for reef aquariums.
These tangs may show aggression towards other tangs, especially those in the Acanthurus family. To minimize conflicts, introduce all tangs simultaneously and ensure a spacious tank. Providing a steady supply of algae can also help reduce aggression. Mimic Eibli Tangs thrive with ample swimming space.
As herbivores, Mimic Eibli Tangs need a diet rich in greens. Offer foods like nori, marine algae sheets, high-quality frozen foods, mysis, brine shrimp, and premium flake and pellet foods to keep them healthy.
