Blonde Naso Tang - Naso elegans
The Blonde Naso Tang is a visually striking species among surgeonfish. These fish feature a predominantly gray body accented with vibrant yellow on their dorsal side and orange on their ventral side. They are more colorful compared to the standard Naso Tang.
Reaching up to 18 inches in length, Blonde Naso Tangs require a minimum tank size of 150 gallons. They are generally peaceful with other fish, corals, and invertebrates, making them ideal for reef aquariums. However, they can be aggressive towards other tangs. To minimize aggression, ensure a spacious tank and introduce all tangs simultaneously. Providing ample algae can also help reduce conflicts.
These tangs are active swimmers, necessitating a tank with plenty of horizontal space. A longer tank is preferable to a taller one with limited swimming room.
Susceptible to diseases like marine ich, it's crucial to quarantine Blonde Naso Tangs before adding them to your main tank. Once healthy, supplements like selcon and garlic can boost their immune system.
As herbivores, Blonde Naso Tangs thrive on a diet rich in greens. Offer foods such as nori, algae sheets, high-quality pellets, flakes, spirulina, and mysis shrimp to maintain their health.
