Due to their aggressive nature, they may prey on smaller fish and invertebrates, making them unsuitable for reef systems.

To ensure their well-being, Epaulette Sharks should be housed in tanks with minimal sharp corners to prevent head injuries. A thick sand bed of fine substrate is essential, as coarser materials can scratch their bellies, leading to infections. Sand is crucial since these sharks spend most of their time on the sand bed.

Only experienced aquarists should keep Epaulette Sharks. They are carnivorous and need a diet rich in meaty foods, such as fresh seafood. Initially, live foods like feeder shrimp may be necessary to acclimate them to their new environment.
