Lined Seahorse - Hippocampus erectus
The Lined Seahorse is a captivating and lively marine creature. These seahorses exhibit a predominantly tan hue with pronounced horizontal brown stripes and distinctive facial markings. They grow to a maximum size of about 6 inches and require a minimum tank size of 55 gallons. Known for their peaceful nature, Lined Seahorses coexist harmoniously with other non-aggressive fish, corals, and invertebrates, making them ideal for tranquil reef aquariums with low water flow.
When selecting tank mates, opt for other gentle species like pipefish and fellow seahorses. Avoid aggressive fish such as triggers, which may harass them. Lined Seahorses thrive in environments with low water currents and ample decorations like grasses, corals, and rocks for them to anchor their tails.
As carnivores, Lined Seahorses require a diet rich in meaty foods. They should be fed frozen foods like mysis and brine shrimp, along with feeder shrimp and live pods to help them acclimate to tank life.
