Food and Diet: The Southern Puffer should include a variety of meaty food and vegetable matter. Offer squid, krill, clams, and hard shelled shrimp to help wear down their ever growing teeth.
Puffers are generally smaller than porcupinefishes and smooth scaled. These fishes use their pectoral fins to achieve highly manoeuvrable propulsion, but the pelvic fins are absent.
