Bluestripe Pipefish - Doryrhamphus excisus
The Bluestripe Pipefish is a stunning and fragile species, perfect for tranquil aquariums. These fish feature a slender orange body with a prominent blue stripe running along their length.
Due to their delicate nature, Bluestripe Pipefish should not be kept with aggressive fish. They thrive with seahorses and other pipefish. They prefer tanks with gentle to moderate water flow. Avoid stinging corals and anemones, as they pose a risk to these fish.
Bluestripe Pipefish are generally peaceful, becoming aggressive only if multiple males are present. It's best to introduce them as mated pairs.
These fish are challenging to maintain, requiring a diet rich in live copepods. A tank with established live rock is essential. Over time, they may adapt to eating small Mysis Shrimp, Cyclopeeze, and baby Brine Shrimp.
In low-aggression environments, Bluestripe Pipefish are an excellent choice, especially when housed with other gentle species like seahorses and pipefish.
