Bicolor Parrotfish - Cetoscarus bicolor
The Bicolor Parrotfish is renowned for its vibrant hues, making it one of the ocean's most striking fish. Initially, they appear mostly white with a red or orange head. As they grow, their bodies transform into a vivid display of purples, greens, and blues. These fish can grow up to three feet in length, necessitating a minimum aquarium size of 180 gallons. However, they often don't reach their full size in captivity. Generally, Bicolor Parrotfish coexist peacefully with other fish but should be housed in fish-only tanks. Their diet primarily consists of algae scraped from coral, making them unsuitable for reef tanks. The coral they consume is excreted as sand. Due to their specific dietary needs, they are challenging to maintain and are best suited for experienced aquarists with large tanks. If you can meet their requirements, the Bicolor Parrotfish can be a stunning addition to your fish-only aquarium.
