The Purple Lobster is a truly stunning smaller lobster. Purple Lobsters have a mostly reddish purple body.

Purple Lobsters reach a maximum adult size of around 5 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 90 gallons. Purple Lobsters are semi-aggressive and shouldn't bother too many fish, coral or inverts in your tank. Purple Lobsters will go after other Purple Lobsters, and might be aggressive to smaller inverts. Purple Lobsters might also try to catch smaller slower moving fish as well. For these reasons, you need to add a Purple Lobster to a reef tank with caution.

Purple Lobsters do best in tank with lots of live rock for them to hide in during the day and also to claim as their territory. Purple Lobsters will spend most of their lives going through your tank looking for leftover pieces of food. This makes them a great member of your tanks clean up crew.

Purple Lobsters are omnivores and should get most of their dietary needs from leftover food. If you would like to supplement their diet, you can use foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality frozen foods and high quality flake and pellet foods.
