The Masudas Hogfish is a breathtakingly vibrant species of hogfish. This fish features a predominantly white body adorned with striking red horizontal stripes, occasionally displaying a subtle hue. A distinctive small black spot is located behind their eyes. The Masudas Hogfish can grow up to 5 inches and requires a minimum tank size of 55 gallons. Known for their peaceful nature, they generally coexist well with other fish, corals, and invertebrates, making them an excellent addition to reef tanks. However, larger individuals may occasionally bother smaller shrimp.
In larger aquariums, Masudas Hogfish can be kept in small groups, provided they are introduced simultaneously to minimize aggression. They thrive in environments with abundant live rock, which offers both feeding opportunities and shelter. As carnivores, their diet should include meaty foods such as mysis and brine shrimp, along with high-quality frozen foods and small pieces of fresh seafood to ensure their health and happiness.
