Yellow Watchman Goby (Cryptocentrus cinctus)
The vibrant Yellow Watchman Goby is a captivating addition to any aquarium. This species features a striking yellow body adorned with small, electric blue spots from head to tail. Reaching up to 4 inches in length, these gobies thrive in tanks of at least 29 gallons. Generally peaceful, they may show aggression towards other gobies, so it's advisable to introduce a mated pair if keeping multiple. They coexist well with other fish, invertebrates, and corals in reef environments.
One intriguing aspect of the Yellow Watchman Goby is its symbiotic relationship with certain pistol shrimp species. These gobies often rest on the sand bed or within live rock, so providing ample live rock and a deep sand bed is essential for their comfort. Known for their jumping ability, a secure lid is necessary to prevent escape.
As carnivores, Yellow Watchman Gobies require a diet rich in meaty foods, such as mysis and brine shrimp, high-quality frozen foods, and small pieces of fresh seafood.
