Hasselts Goby (Callogobius hasselti)
The Hasselts Goby is a petite species, typically reaching a maximum size of around 2 inches (5 centimeters). Despite its small size, it boasts a relatively long lifespan, with proper care and optimal tank conditions supporting a lifespan of up to 5 years in captivity.
Feeding this goby is straightforward, as it readily accepts a varied diet. Offer high-quality, small-sized pellets or flakes supplemented with live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and finely chopped seafood to meet its nutritional needs.
Known for its peaceful nature, the Hasselts Goby is compatible with various tank mates. Exercise caution when introducing it to aggressive or territorial species. Ideal tank mates include small, non-aggressive fish and invertebrates with similar water parameter requirements.
Ensure the well-being of the Hasselts Goby with a minimum aquarium size of 20 gallons. Provide a sandy substrate to mimic its natural habitat and plenty of hiding spots among rocks or artificial structures. A well-established filtration system is crucial, as is maintaining stable water conditions.
