RARE FISH!!!
Bella Sleeper Goby (Valencienna bella)
The **Bella Goby**, known scientifically as *Valenciennea bella*, is a captivating Sleeper Goby species. Resembling the Golden Head Sleeper Goby in form and size, the **Bella Goby** showcases a mix of maroon, red, and orange hues. Its head is adorned with a yellow-gold color and sapphire-blue stripes beneath the eyes, while the chin and belly are off-white. Mature **Bella Gobies** develop distinctive black patches under their chins.
These resilient fish inhabit the reefs and sandy areas from Japan to the Philippines, often seen alone or in pairs.
As sand sifters, **Bella Gobies** thrive in aquariums of 30 gallons or more, with a thick sandy base and ample rock structures for burrow building. A mature refugium with copepods and amphipods is beneficial. Known for their jumping ability, ensure your tank has a secure lid or screen.
**Bella Gobies** feed by sifting sand, consuming small worms and crustaceans. Their activity keeps the substrate clean and oxygenated. Offer a variety of frozen or thawed foods like enriched brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and marine carnivore pellets.
Recently discovered, **Bella Gobies** were first identified near Japan and are now also found in the Philippines. Their rarity is reflected in their price, and they are best kept in pairs.
The **Bella Goby** features a predominantly silver to white body with vibrant red and pink accents, yellow heads, and fins. Blue markings adorn their heads, and a bold black stripe is visible under their chins.
Peaceful by nature, **Bella Gobies** coexist well with other fish, corals, and invertebrates in reef tanks, reaching up to six inches in length.
While their substrate-filtering behavior helps maintain clean sand, it can also scatter sand across the tank, potentially covering corals. Consider this when adding a **Bella Goby** to your setup.
Carnivorous, **Bella Gobies** thrive in tanks with a healthy pod population but will also accept brine and mysis shrimp and quality meaty frozen foods. Ensure your tank has a lid, as **Bella Gobies** are known jumpers.
