The Flamboyant Cuttlefish is a remarkable and vividly colored marine invertebrate. These cuttlefish display a vibrant array of colors, including pink, red, and yellow, set against a primarily tan to brown body.
Reaching an adult size of about 3 inches, Flamboyant Cuttlefish require a minimum tank size of 50 gallons. They are semi-aggressive and are best housed in species-specific tanks, making them unsuitable for reef aquariums. These cuttlefish are highly toxic, comparable to the Blue Ring Octopus, and should only be handled by experienced aquarists. Found at depths of around 100 meters, they prefer cooler tank temperatures and need areas to hide from intense lighting.
Flamboyant Cuttlefish thrive on a carnivorous diet rich in meaty foods. Initially, live foods are ideal for acclimating them to aquarium life. Gradually, you can introduce frozen meaty foods until you find their preferred diet.
