Red Tail Filefish - Pervagor janthinosoma
The Red Tail Filefish is a distinctive and uncommon species, showcasing a vibrant mix of blue and yellow on its body. These fish can grow up to 5 inches and require a minimum tank size of 55 gallons. Known for their peaceful nature, they coexist well with other non-aggressive fish but should not be placed in reef tanks due to their tendency to nibble on invertebrates. Ideal tank conditions include plenty of live rock and marine plants, where they can forage for small invertebrates. As omnivores, their diet should include a mix of meaty and plant-based foods, such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and high-quality pellets. Occasionally, feeder shrimp may be necessary to encourage feeding in a new environment.
