BUTTERFLY FOUR EYE Chaetodon capistratus
Common Name: Four Eye Butterfly, Four-eyed Butterfly Description: The Four Eye butterfly is mostly white in color with this broke black chevrons, a white-ringed black spot at the rear, and a black vertical mask that crosses the eyes of the fish. Around the top and bottom edges of the fish may be yellow in color.
Recommended Tank Size: The Four Eye butterfly should be kept in a tank able to hold at least 55 gallons with a temperature range of about 75 - 82 degrees Fahrenheit and a pH level of 8.0 - 8.4. This is a generally peaceful fish and may get along with other tankmates this fish's size or a little larger.
Food & Diet: The Four Eye butterfly is considered an omnivore. At first this fish may be very picky and not willing to eat anything other than coral flesh but eventually it will get use to an aquarium diet. Feed this fish a varied diet that consits of algae and meaty items such as brime shrimp, mysis shrimp, scallops, clam, corals, and sponges. It may also be a good idea to include vitamin supplements, ensuring that the fish gets proper nutrients.
