Louti Cherry Grouper - Variola louti

Attractive and interesting as a juvenile, loud and gaudy colored as an adult – the Red Louti Grouper or Cherry Louti Grouper Fish has it all. It is one of the largest of the groupers growing almost three feet in length! Provide plenty of aquarium space for this fish as it will need space to swim. Groupers are ambush predators and will spend much of their time hiding and watching for easy prey. Groupers should be housed in large aquariums with good filtration. Caution should be considered when adding this animal to a community tank as it will eat any fish or crustacean that may fit in it’s mouth.

Feed the Red Louti Grouper or Cherry Louti Grouper Fish a varied diet consisting of large chunks of meaty foods. These foods include krill, raw table shrimp, squid, clam and mussel. It is also a good idea to occasionally supplement with some type of herbivore diet.

This is a great looking fish. Although it can be shy when initially introduced to the aquarium, with time it will spend more time in the open, becoming quite bold. Only one Louti Cherry Grouper should be kept per aquarium.

Like all groupers, it will eat any fish that they can swallow whole and behave aggressively towards tankmates that intrude into its preferred hiding places. It will also eat ornamental shrimps and crabs. Extremely easy to care for.
