Pomacanthus semicirculatus is known under several different common names including Koran Angelfish, Blue Koran Angelfish, Semicircle Angelfish, Half-circle Angelfish, and Half-circled Angelfish.

The name is often shortened to Koran Angel / Blue Koran Angel / Semicircle Angel / Half-circle Angel / Half-circled Angel. The Koran Angelfish is found in the Indo-Pacific. Its geographical range stretches from East Africa and the Red Sea to Samoa.

The range proceeds northwards up to southern Japan and southwards down to Western Australia and New South Wales, including Lord Howe Island.

The Juvenile pattern will begin to dissolve into that of the adult pattern at around 4 inches.

Recommended tank size:

A minimum of a 90 gallon tank is necessary. Provide plenty of hiding places such as caves and live rock for grazing.

Reef Compatibility:

Will nip at sessile invertebrates such as nudibranchs, corals, and clams.

Food and Diet:

In the aquarium they should be sustained by a wide selection of live, fresh, or frozen and vitamin-enriched brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, chopped krill, chopped clams, chopped squid, marine algae, zucchini, spinach, romaine lettuce, and quality Spirulina-based flake foods for angelfish and herbivores.

Feed them at least three small meals a day to help support their fast metabolism.

If a specimen doesn't initially eat during acclimation, they can be enticed with live brine shrimp, ghost shrimp, and freshly chopped seafood.
